Beazer Breaks Ground on Largest Zero Energy Ready Home Community in the United States
Beazer Homes recently broke ground on the site of their newest community, GreenHouse, in Marietta, Ga. The Atlanta-based national builder is known as a leader in energy-efficient construction, committing to building 100% of its homes to the U.S. Department of Energy Zero Energy Ready HomeTM standards by the end of 2025. GreenHouse will include 591 homesites south of Barrett Parkway between Bells Ferry Road and I-575, making it the largest community in the U.S. to offer homes certified as Zero Energy Ready. It also represents the largest development in Cobb County in more than a decade.

Iowa’s premiere zero carbon-certified building is almost ready for tenants
New tenants will start moving into Iowa’s first-ever “zero carbon certified” building in a few weeks. Star Lofts in Des Moines will have 20 affordable housing apartments and four spaces for businesses. To earn the title zero-carbon, new buildings must meet benchmarks for cutting carbon emissions both during the construction phase and when it’s in use. Developers must offset remaining emissions through renewable energy projects to reach net zero.

How Green Building is Shaping the Future of Construction
In 2024, the NAHB Dodge Data & Analytics released a SmartMarket Brief that revealed that a majority of builders are involved in green building. The brief, Building Sustainably: Green & Resilient Single-Family Homes 2024, is compiled from a survey of 250 home builders and remodelers. The survey asked respondents to select the top three factors that would increase their engagement with green building in the future. Half of the respondents listed increased home buyer demand for green homes. The second highest at 48% was the availability of government or utility incentives.
